Les Rameaux Two Nuns Praying Religious Framed Silk Screen Elizabeth Sonrell.
Framed Neyret Freres, jacquard loomed, woven silk picture "Two Nuns Praying 13 1/2" x 13 inches matted and framed. Has the initials NFF woven into lower left corner and D'APR E. SONREL woven into the lower right corner. Silk is black, gray & white. In very good condition and like most of these collectible silks, it is exquisite art. NFF is the Maker's mark for a French Co. named Neyret Freres a company that specialized in silk ribbon. What I found most interesting was their water powered jacquard loom, now a museum peice. This silk was probably made on that loom! The D'APR in french means "after". Which is telling us that this was a copy of a painting done by Elizabeth Sonrel after she painted it. Elizabeth Sonrel was a French Painter, 1874 - 1953. Over the past 10 years her work has become very collectible.
