Vintage Green Velvet Framed Picture “Madonna della Seggiola” Raphael Gold ~7x10"

Description

This listing is for stunning framed picture of Mother Mary and the baby Jesus with a young John the Baptist looking on. The original painting by Raphael is housed at the Palazzo Pitti Collection in Florence, Italy and is named Madonna della Seggiola, or Madonna of the Chair. Raphael painted this work in 1513-1514. This print is outlined in a decorative gold and cream paper and gold edging to accent and draw focus to the imagery. The balance of the background is green velvet. The frame is covered in the same green velvet. There is an area of discoloration on the bottom edge of the front of the velvet frame. See photo. The item measures 7 1/2” wide by 10 1/8” tall from frame edge to frame edge. The diameter of the Madonna measures 4”.  Please note there is a crack in the glass. Yes, it could be repaired; however, I thought it best to leave the piece intact. If you’d like to replace, of course that’s up to you. The crack is not terribly noticeable when viewed straight on. The back of the framed work includes a handwritten note, “Madonna of the Chair. Raphael.”  There is a wire hanger on the back. Please see photos to supplement this description.
